Check Engine Light is on
Hello
I have a 1995 SC300 5 speed
Last night my Check engine light came in so i went to a local shop this morning after reading the forum, First off if you have a 1996 or before I think you have to do a OBD 1 test and after 1996 is the OBD 2 testing , Auto Zone does not do ODB 1 anymore and Im pretty sure Advanced Auto does not either. I hear AAmco still might but I paid $35 to have the OBD1 diagnostic the mechanic said code 21 error came up,,,the main o2 sensor,,,,he started trying to clear the error and then asked me if I have ever cleaned my fuel injector and how old is my oil. i just bought the car recently and had the oil changed to synthetic. Then he brought out a box of 3 fuel injector cleaner shaped bottles which he said is $70, 1 for the oil, 1 for the fuel, and another for the fuel injector is what i think he said in broken english.
Why is he trying to sell me this 3 piece kit instead of having me replace the main O2 sensor?

You might be running a little rich. My brother's SC is throwing code 21 fromt time to time. We also just found out that the cats are doneskeez due to running too much fuel. The mechanic thinks that may be why the O2 was ruined.
