Default Exhaust Heat shield rattle.

i have this annoying buzzing sound when i try to accel hard. sound like a heat shield on the ezhaust and coming from the back of the car on the pass side. anyone have any input on what i can do to fix that, also sometimes i get a buzzing sound by whee the cats are. i know its the shields but is there anyway to remove them?

I have the same problem, I bent sum or the edges to the heat shield it works but you still get little buzzing, im going to remove mine as soon as I have time.

how would you go about removing it? isnt weldedto the actual exhaust?

I think i remember it being stamped together like two pices, i plane to cut it off with a grinder.

Think of it as a baked potato wrapped in tinfoil inside your barbeque. Without tinfoil the potato overheats and burns. With the foil it heat nicely, and the foil cools fast when removed.

The heatshield isn't completely connected to the Cat, only in key spots, and helps protect anything flammable under your car from going on fire. Hence the term heat shield. Anyway mines rattling, going to give it a check now and see if a few hose clamps can shut it up.

there's little clamps on it, i hammerd them towards the heat shield so they would tighten more maybe, didn't help. there looks to be a 10 mm nut on them so i'll try tightening it even though it's rusty as hell

It's not 100% effective, but you can often find the source of exhaust rattles by tapping on the suspect areas with a rubber mallet and listening for the vibrations.
