Question Headgasket Upgrade ?

Attempting headgasket upgrade on this newer engine. How did you all further clean the engine block surface after getting to this point?:

I've been scrubbing (wash rag + Laquer thinner) and scraping with razors the block surface for 3+ hours but there are still some spots that will not come off ...weird thing is the dark colored spots feel perfectly smooth to my fingers.

Dunno if this helps, but if the engine is out of the car, or can be removed easily, I'd just take it to a machine shop. It cost me $20 for them to clean of the old material and make sure the block was perfectly leveled.

Thanks, dropped it off at a machine shop today. But, I was quoted one hour of labor = $60 . Which machine shop does it for $20?

Local shop here only charged $20 .. I think it was one of those "well it won't take us long so we'll do it for cheap" sorta thing rather than a concrete number for everyone .. still $60 is nothing for the piece of mind knowing it was done right

make sure they don't take off too much material and that none of the deposits collect into the piston walls
