car starts without clutch is that normal??
new owner of a 5spd 92 sc300 is it normal that i dont need to step on the clutch to start the car? i know its common for cars that were made pre 90's for instance my bros 85 corolla starts without holding the clutch down but my 86 corolla doesnt. i think they took this option out due to safety precautions. i dont mind having this option though just wondering if this is normal?

i did that to my celica like 2 years ago to get the remote start on my alram... they told me that i had to bypass that to start the car ... that was my reason. do you have remote start on your car??? then that's the reason y you don't have to step on your clutch to start your car.

Mine starts without the clutch as well, the car doesn't appear to have any aftermarket starter/alarm or anything like that. I'm going to guess it's normal. Unless we both just have messed up cars!

The safety switch is bypassed, look for a white 2 wire connector that is jumpered between
the pins. Should be near the clutch pedal pivot or tucted back behind the kick panel.
Mine is purposely bypassed as I am running a twin plate clutch. There has been some
discussion that HD clutches increase wear/aid in crank walk when engauged during
engine start up.
Leave it alone unless it really bothers you.

thrust washers. VERY BAD thing, motor go boom!
With HD clutches its recommended to bypass the clutch inhibit switch. That way you
don't push the clutch in to start it. With a regular/stock clutch it still helps the bearings
from wear. I'm also very lazy & pushing in the pedal to start is just 1 more needless
thing to do.
