Transimission HP holding capacity stock..
I am trying to find out info form this and different forums as too how much horsepower and torque the stock Lexus automatic transmissions can handle approx. beforre giving out........
Lex on Lextreme.com has been pushing 400rwhp on his stock LS400 for some time now. with no problems.....
Others with nos have run at 350rwhp with no problems...
Can anyone offer any facts to this discussion...I am trying to create a worksheet of HP holding capacities at stock....The tranny is the only question mark....Any thoughts on this anyone?

Jibbby,
I know you've posted this question in the past, but as I merged that post I realized most of the replies were useless. So I un-merged it.
I'd suggest that folks who respond be clear what transmission & year they're talking about. Does Lextreme's LS400 share exactly the same tranny as the SC400 (could be, I don't know)? The 98+ VVT-I SC400's are going to have a 5 speed transmission like the GS. My 98 GS tranny has held about 385rwhp for a couple of years now with no issue. I do have a transmission cooler to compliment the high stall torque converter and a valve body upgrade on the tranny.

Thanks DaveGS for your tranny info......
I am re-posting hoping to get some better definitive replies, early model lexus 400's is what we are looking for....Yes some trannies are slightly different but most are built to handle around the same power output....
Yes you are right Lex did waste two trannies but not from running too much horsepower, one had a leak and ran dry, the other gave way for some other reason that I can't remember....He is currently driving his early model LS400 and is laying down 400rwhp for some time now.......
There is a forum thread going on LEXTREME.COM under the "sc400 section" in the "general discussion" section called "SC400 HP capacity work sheet" that shows all this info...This thread was posted up yesterday so check it out for verification.......We are trying to figure who has pushed what power levels on some of these stock lexus auto trannies...We have determined the following hp holding capacity for -
1uz-fe engine -
fuel injectors -
fuel pump -
driveshaft -
transmission - is still a bit of mystery.. 450rwhp is what some are thinking the early model 400's trannies can handle with a tranny cooler and in good condition....One member on this forum have wasted a tranny at 320whp only....I want to get other opinions from this forum if possible that is all.......
