94 LS400 New Torque Converter for Used Aisin-Warner Tranny ?
Based on previous CL member advice to get a low mileage used Aisin-Warner transmission with a warranty, can anyone tell me if it would be better to buy a new Torque Converter to install with used tranny (Lextreme has new remans for approx $175.00) when installing or keep the existing used torque converter in the used tranny? Don't know enough about powertrains to know if these two parts need to be matched/paired from the start or what is best?
Thanks for any advice.

The torque convertor and transmission are normally matched so if you are buying the transmission ask if the original convertor can be supplied with it.(Although difficult to make sure it would be)
Same as you my transmission knowledge is limited, but improving (thanks Google!) but if it's a choice between your old convertor and a recon for the cost and to prevent possible future problems I would get the recon.
Nothing worse than spending hours swopping out a tranny to find the TC is faulty when you finally drop into drive again

Thanks Steve, I'll make sure to confirm the converter is supplied with the original matched transmission. Appreciate the information and response, as it will be a fairly substantial cost.
