1 piece driveshaft
So i'm about to start this project. Technically, with a front spindle, and the rear plate off an OEM driveshaft.. a driveshaft shop should be able to get the metal pipe and make a 1 piece driveshaft out of the 2 ends, correct? Has anyone tried this? Im looking for ways to get rid of rotational mass.

I do not see why if its balanced. It would be identical to a "titan" one piece driveshaft, just steel instead of aluminum or carbonviber, and be 1/10th the cost.

vibration would be fine, it really only depends on the mount positions and design.
IMO, if you're trying to kill rotational mass(guessing you want to go faster) i'd aim at the flywheel, and wheels.
a driveshaft should have around the same inertia no matter what unless you pay the big $ for CF. They have to be a certain diameter to be able to handle the power, the center area doesn't matter.
changing the flywheel will allow for quicker changes in angular rotation, but it'll also cause more vibration throughout the system. I BELIEVE there is a way to design the flywheel to have the same inertia but less mass(yet still fitting), and allow for the rotation change w/o the vibration, but i haven't gone through that process yet. just go w/ a reputable company
and if you do this 1-piece, lemme know how it works out

When I brought mine in, the guy warned me about vibrations on a one piece. The difference from the 2 piece and 1 piece in price was only $100 so i payed more for the one piece since I don't want to twist another DS.
It's been 2 weeks and It still hasn't come in.

hmm, there must be something i'm forgetting then. . . :-\
i'll think for a bit and see if i can think of what would cause the vib.
edit:
i see it, i was neglecting gravity
damn whoever created the world w/ everything having charges. . .
