Default 400 hp 1jz or 2jz.. cheaper?

ok im not sure about prices yet, but from what ive seen, i can guess that a 2jz is 500-1000 more expensize than a 1jz.

do if im only looking around 350-400hp to the wheels, should i save the money from the 2jz and use that money to upgrade the 1jz to 400?

im only looking for that ammount of hp because im planning to toss this engine into a 87 bmw 325i (e30). theres a guy who turbo'd his 89 bmw to 300ish using diy parts etc, stripped int, drag radials and runs high 11s just to give you a quick figure.

thanks in advance guys

There are quite a few BMWs running around here in Aus with JDM motors. I've seen the 1JZ strapped into an E30 before, I reckon the 1JZ would be the best for your requirements (can easily withstand 300~400hp).

Why do that? There are e30s running 10s on stock internals stock engines. Or if you want a newer DOHC engine get the 328 engine, it is cheap and can do 600+ whp.

Here is a 9s e30

its too expensive to upgrade the current m20 motor to the level i want. i know it can be done for cheap, but i dont want reliability issues.

as for m50etc, its the cost.

since you guys are already reading this.. i was thinking of maybe even using an sr20det because they seem to be a whole lot cheaper than the 1jz and 2jz and with some of the money i save from it, i could upgrade it to around 300-400hp ish..

this really all depends on how much i can get the engines for, but as of right now im seeing
1jz for 2500, 2jz for 3000, and sr20 for 1500-2000ish. im from so cal, so are there any hookups or sites you can refer me to? thanks

Do a search on www;bimmerforums.com for username "bimmubishi" he had 4g63 first and now sr20det in his e30. Still, cheapest by far is to turbo the m20.

cheaper? yeah i COULD put together a diy kit for under 2gs but itll run like crap and ill end up putting more money into it. i want something realiable that will make the power i want.

i know of bimmubishi too, thanks, but ive asked around and it seems i can get a 1jz for around 1500+sh. thats with an auto tranny which i can sell and then look for a w58 as the r154 are more rare/costly. upgrade clutch +100hp capable so 450/500 and ill be money.

so for around 2500 ill have my engine ready and then ill wory about fabrication and custom work.
as for the drivetrain i was told that all i need is a modified disk/donut. not too sure on this but he said it wasnt a headache.

I dont follow the logic of your way of thinking. But if you complete this project post some pics of the finished car. Good luck.
