Default Buying a cheap 5speed SC... using current tranny for Supra swap? Labor questions...

Hey guys,

I'm graduating high school in June and looking for a nicer car... pretty big into the racing scene, and have a 95 AWD turbo talon, 98 Eclipse, and a Del Sol... I was going to buy a MR2 Turbo, but I decided I really like the potential and quality of the SC300 with a TT swap instead. (same price pretty much, too, as I'm looking at MR2s in the 9k-11k range)

I'm pretty new to this, and I did search, but couldn't find that much info out there. Basically, my question is, if I buy a "complete swap" for $2500-3000, what else will I really need to purchase? I don't think I want to do the tranny swap yet as I can live with the 5speed and the guys at the local tuning shop say it can be kept. This shop also wants to charge me $2000 -2500 in labor, so I guess it's a pretty good deal compared to other posts here I've read.

So.. I'm looking at:
$4500 for a 94 SC300 manual
$2500 for the engine
$2500 for labor
----------
9500
+ misc costs of??

Now, I was wondering what the potential problems were of keeping the 5speed tranny... I don't really have the cash for a 6 speed now, and from what I've read automatic would be a downgrade, right? I'm guessing I would just want an upgraded clutch and flywheel.

Lastly, exactly how difficult is this swap? The local shop is very good at swapping turbo engines in 240s, civics, but they don't do a lot of work on Supras or Lexus, just b/c they're not common here. At the same time, if the swap really is that easy, and I can find a mechanic that is good at wiring... would I be set since it's pretty much bolt-on? (Say I was able to get it done for under $1400 through another shop)

Thanks guys!
Joe
