turbo vs swap
Ive been reasearching and debating for months what to do with my sc300. ..I was looking into a swap or the turbonetics kit..the kti would run me about 4000 not installed..he swap would either be a 1 or 2jz(Auto) , that where i need your opinion. I want the most for my money. My goal is to get about 500 rwhp out of my car. Would would be the best for my money?

It depens on what condtion your engine is in. if it has low milage and running strong then go for the kit. If your car is a automatic then the tranny will NOT support 500whp. I don't even think it will hold 400whp. The 5-speed is a little stronger and can hold 400whp on a strong low milage stock tranny. A 1jz swap will be a little cheaper then the 2jz-gte swap. I can get the 2jz-gte swap for between 5-6k but thats from a friend and one hell of a price from what I've been told. The kit will be cheaper but it all depends on what shape your engine/tranny is in. You can always upgrade your tranny or just swap trannies all together. IDK how much trannies are.

I don't know a whole lot --- but if you want to make that much dependably a 2JZGTE or a 1JZ would be a better bet-- since they're built with the proper ingternals and lower compression from the factory, plus have piston squirters..
That's a lot of power, and the auto needs a few things done to it to handle that much power... I think it can, but will need a shift kit ---
How often do you want to make that much power?? Just once on a dyno to post the chart, or everyday several times a day??? That will determine how much you'll need to spend on any of the motors-- I think a 1J is the cheapest bang for the buck-- but you don't have to use the turbonetics kit to boost your n/a motor, there are lots of guys out there with used parts letting them go for cheaper than you might think...
I'm sure others will chime in with better advice. I've been thinking about this for an SC400 too.... 1UZ's are expensive to wake up... A 1JZ on the other hand can be a monster with 2 grand....

Its up to you man. Both ways are good ways. If your GE motor is still strong, go for it. The internals are tough as ****. But you cant go wrong with the 1j. It was the best thing I could do for my car!

I was in this same dilemma about a year ago. I personally would go with GTE's just based on the ease of tuning. If you do na-t just go with the aem from the beginning to make tuning easier. The aftermarket for the 2jzgte is plentiful with lots of choices and the aftermarket for the 1jzgte is growing fast too. Whatever choice you make just do it right and don't cut any corners.

A 1j with bolt ons is an awesome car! So much power on tap...ALWAYS. A 2jzgte with bolt ons is a monster but also cost alot more. Are you going for 500 to the wheels or daily driving plus extra power? Cause there is quite the difference.
