Are you looking at replacing the starter BRUSHES, or the electrical contacts on the starter solenoid?
From the diagram, looks like the starter brushes are installed on that circular plate noted as item 5. If it is a solenoid problem, it is pretty easy disassemble and just clean up the mating contacts with a small file or sandpaper.

I did a pretty good job too cuz it worked for another 3 weeks.
Then one day, out of the blue, the plunger baked onto one of the contacts and my starter got stuck in engage/crank mode.
Basically I turned on my car, heard a weird noise, turned it off, took out the key, car is still cranking like mad.
I turned the key to ON (Not Start) and the car fired right up.
It took me about 3-5 minutes to find a tool to throw the (-) off my battery.
By that time the starter had gotten so hot that it melted some stuff around it.
Problem is that even though you clean up the contact, the battery side is worn down so when the plunger comes down, it gets angled, and can easily get stuck in it's hole for long enough to fuse to the contact, and then you're in my shoes.
Check HERE for Toyota part #s for the contacts.
Cheers,
~Alan
