Some Questions about the 1JZ-GTE
I just purchased an SC300 and am new to the boards and to Toyotas/Lexus but I am a long time boost addict. I was looking at my options of going NA-T, 2JZ-GTE, or the JDM Soarer engine 1JZ-GTE which is the path I think I have decided to go in once I get my DSM sold.
I have done a search and found no answers, so my question is what is the WHP limit on the 1JZ-GTE factory internals? Which tranny should I look for to get? I see plenty of people listed how to do the 2JZ-GTE Wiring/Swap, but nothing on the 1JZ or how hard it is and some good websites where the swap can be purchased at a reasonable price. It seems like all the swaps I've found are all for the MKIII supras. I am the kind of person that belives in building a car himself, not buying one, so keep that in mind.

I see 1jz clips/swaps all the time on ebay. They are much easier to find than a good 2jzgte swap. Most people go NA-T because the 2jzgte can cost upwards of 6K. I've heard of people getting 450RWHP out of a 1jz....but i'm sure that more is possible. I think most people in the U.S. just have trouble getting aftermarket stuff for the 1j. That's really the only set back i can think of.

takahiro ueno (driver of the vertex drift soarer) has a 600 whp soarer that he drives on the streets
im sure his drift car can produce that much also but it is only tuned to run a more conservative 470 for better all around balance that is needed on the drift circuit
