Default 1UZ VVTI Swap worth it?

I've got a 95 SC400 with the stock non VVTI 1UZ. I keep thinking it would be a worth while effort to swap in a later VVTI 1UZ for the roughly 30-40 HP and TQ gain, plus the benefit of OBD2. Any down sides to this thought? I've currently got a line on a complete drivetrain from a 2000 SC400, minus drive shaft and rear end.

Only downsides coming to mind is wiring, extra sensors....I'm not too versed in a swap like this but I mean for a few extra horses and torque is it really worth it though? personally wouldn't swap less I blew that 1uz to kingdom come, added 4 inspection ports and sent cylinder 5 to meet Jesus. will it be an endeavor? yeah most likely in electrical. mechanical I couldnt tell ya cept you losing that Non Interference status.

I don't know whether the amount of work is worth it, but you will definitely be happy with the result. The difference feels bigger than the HP/TQ figures, IMO, probably due to the much better transmission pairing.

I should add, regardless if I stay with my non VVTI, or swap to the VVTI, I do plan on going manual with a CD009. The seller says nothing has been cut or broken when removed, everything in the photos is included along with the ECU.

That complicates things. You're pretty much in uncharted territory then, as far as how much improvement comes from the motor swap and how much from the transmission swap. The OBDI motor will come alive with a M/T behind it, too, and will probably be easier to trick the ECU.

Heeeeeeellll no its not worth it you could get 30 to 40 hp with a standalone on your current motor with less work, less money and more possibilities. Now if you want to do standalone with the vvti and cd009 yes but not the auto trans and oem ECUs

The problem with that reasoning is, the same could be applied to the VVTi motor and you'd come out even further ahead.
