Well we all know Thanksgiving is right around the corner so that means free time to do whatever. I was thinking ROADTRIP with the Lexus. I live in So.Cal (909/626/714) area and I need some suggestions as to some good places for a good ol’ roadtrip. Nothing fancy. I just want beautiful scenery and open road that isn’t full of SUVs taking up 2 lanes on the highway. Thanks in advance guys.
Up the coast to Santa Barbara is always nice...or venture two more hours north and go wine tasting in the central valley (off HWY 46 near Cambria)...That's where I will be.
We are just south of you in the 562/714 area. We make regular runs into Solvang and Cambria and barring the lousy downtown LA traffic, it is a breeze. Oxnard and Ventura are also nice short trips.
If you can hang over a night or two and enjoy wine, Santa Ynez and Los Olivos are fun. Going a bit north up the 1 or 101, Cambria and Paso Robles. HWY 46 from 1 to 101 can be a fun drive. It has an elevation change of ~2K and has some nice sweeping turns...about 10 miles before it joins the 101.
South down 15 into Temecula.
I hate the seat time but driving through the Mammoth Mountain area with snow on the ground is gorgeous. As is the Lake Tahoe run.
oh yeah another cool drive is the road that connects chino to like orange county..............umm i can't come up with the name right now but it has couple of really insane turns
