Default Slight Drag When Switching to Eco from Sport

Has anyone noticed what feels like a slight drag on the engine when switching from Sport Mode to Eco Mode, especially at highway speeds? It almost feels like a downshift, except that the RPM never changes.

I've noticed it too. I think it's due to the throttle bias. In sport, it takes less throttle to accelerate. In ECO, it takes more throttle for the same rate of acceleration. When you switch from sport to ECO, you shift to the other bias and need to give it slightly more throttle to maintain speed. If you don't give it the extra throttle, you feel the car slow slightly, feeling like a drag on the engine.

In 2 years of ownership I have never contemplated nor attempted to turn the dial from Sport mode to ECO. Problem solved.

That sounds reasonable. Thanks.

It is coming from the throttle bias. If you will switch from sport to eco with your foot off the gas pedal, you will not feel the drag.
