Lowering boot floor on NX200T
Recently I did minor upgrade to car audio - deafening doors, upgrading crossovers and replacing wideband speakers. Result is suprisingly good.
I was also considering trunk sub but ultimately resigned because of space loss. With my instalator we were discussing possibility of putting sub in place of spare tire.
After removing cover, plastics, spare tire and styrofoam under it plenty of space revealed itself. There is like additional 20-30cm usable under trunk floor.
Trunk space is basically my only issue with a car. Especially with shelf in place. Trunk is super low this way. I almost never fold seats so I don't need flat floor with seats folded.
Did anyone considered giving up on spare tire and lowering boot floor ? Something like HDF floor with some cover (maybe rubber) added.
The only problem seem to be with spare tire attaching point which is welded piece of metal, standing out from the floor to about 10 cm.
Has anyone considered / did that ? If yes - care to share results ?
I'll include some pictures soon, I didn't take any first time I removed all trunk "additions".

only issue I see is the cover over the spare tire is extremely light weight and cheap. A good subwoofer is going to rattle that thing like tissue paper. That being said... it really depends on if you want to roll the dice driving without a spare tire....

I wasn't planning to use current floor. More like throwing spare tire, under-floor plastics and floor itself to the basement and either use rubber mat or custom hdf board with some liner. So something solid.
