NX Gas Light on Early?
Knowing the specs state the gas tank @ 15.9 gal capacity, & finding my gas light chronically lights up and gauge goes to Empty with 2.5 gallons still left in the tank. Computer even stated today 9 miles to empty and the tank only took 13.1 gallons of gas. Anyone else seeing this? I understand a safety margin, but this seems excessive.

Better safe than sorry I guess. I've never reached the point where the car warned me about the tank though. I'm usually looking for gas once my tank goes a quarter below the half mark.

AMEN! I don't like letting the tank get to empty. Fuel pump sucks up nasty stuff (not sure if pump is in tank), but pump runs hotter when it isn't being cooled by liquid either. No fuel, no heat dissipation, accelerated wear.

What LNXT200 Said
Yes, I agree with LNXT200. I prefer to fill up at half or just below. On my drive from the Ft Myers, FL selling dealership to my home in Cleveland, TN I did test the low fuel light. Drove quite a few miles after the light came on as it was late and not many stations were open. I also noticed that it didn't seem to be that empty when I finally stopped. But that's a good thing I guess.

When my light is on it takes about 12-12.5 gallons to fill up. I drive about 320-350 miles per week and I prefer to fill gas on Friday afternoon on the way home; therefore, I ALWAYS fill gas when the light is on. I wish the tank is little bigger, like 18 gallons instead of 15.9.
Side note: on my Tundra with 38 gallons tank, when the light is on you still get about 6 (six) gallons left. It takes about 32 gallons when light is on.

Pole Position
If you reset your trip meter after each time you fill up, you can better gauge how many MPT you can get. My highest so far is 287 (city/hwy combined) miles at 20.5 MPG and 14.031 gallons at fill up. If course, this isnt a good indicator of how much you have left in the tank because the MPG varies based on driving conditions, but it gives you a good estimate of how much MPT you can get.
