Default When I lock car by touching handle I get multiple beeps

When I lock car by touching handle I get 6 to 8 beeps something like that, this happens I’m going to say half the time I lock the car and the other half the time I just get the single beep.

Any ideas why? I get more than one beep when I lock the hatch-trunk using the feature that allows you to stand there after you push the button for a while and then it closes after you walk away but I am talking about touching the door handle.

It's the rear seat reminder. Got me when I first got the car too... Anytime you open the rear door it'll be triggered. There's options to turn it off - it's in a couple places if I recall... you'll have to reference the manual though as I can't remember off hand where they are!

This has nothing to do with opening the rear door I shouldn’t have mentioned anything about the hatch I’m talking about I get out of my car and I put my hand on the door handle to lock the car and I get multiple beeps.

Do you at anytime when you first start the car to start your drive open the rear doors? To throw in a bag, briefcase, coat? A child?

Rarely, so are you saying that if you use one of the rear doors you get the multiple beeps when you lock your car and this is for the backseat reminder, you actually do get multiple beeps yourself when you do that?

I will watch for this to see if thats it, I just wanna know if you also get the multiple beeps in this scenario.

I used to get the multiple beeps when I opened the back doors to throw in a bag or out my child in the car seat. Then I turned it off in the infotainment and in the app and it stopped.

Where in the app? I have rear seat reminder turned off on the app, I don’t remember where it is in the infotainment section in the car?

Sounds to me like (on occasion) you are opening the door to get out before turning off the ignition

Thanks, I know where it is in app and have it off but wondered if it might have been in more than one place in the app, thanks.

I should have known this part too, screen, I have studied the deep dive tutorials but I figured you would save me time, thanks again.

This makes me think that if you want to build brand loyalty just make your infotainment system so complicated that you wouldn't dare try to learn a another new one so you would stay with the brand you've learned.

I find this useful because I am forgetful and don't want to leave things that might cause some idiot to break into the car. An interesting fact is that the car knows which door was opened!

Where are you seeing that the car knows which door was opened?

If you open both doors to put things in the back, but later only open one of them before locking, the car still thinks that you may have left someting because the other door was not opened.

If you have digital key set up I think you have to customize key range settings in the app, car thinks you left key in the the car and that's why it beeps. I had same problem before but when I changed key range setting its not beeping anymore.

If you have the digital key option, it comes with a credit card key, and is in the manual. What you are describing is a key in the vehicle signal. It will not allow you to lock the vehicle by touching the door handle slits. If your manual is in the vehicle, check that. Also like the post before, Digital key has range settings and can be found in the app in the digital key. You can lower the frequency. And if you are leaving your phone in the vehicle and have digital key, the vehicle will sense a key in the vehicle and give you the beeps.

The rear seat reminder will also beep after you lock the doors if on, to make you look back so as not to leave an important passenger in there!

Hope this helps!
