Default Fire Extinguisher

Does anyone have a fire extinguisher in their NX? If so, how do you have it stored?

I only have a "how Not to mount an Extinguisher" story...
In the '80's I sold a new Chevrolet Celebrity and the owner installed
a small powder type extinguisher. Came with a strap style bracket
with a quick release snap. When he drilled down through the carpet
on the center hump he pierced the fuel line! Ironically the guest that
did this safety conscious activity was an Airline Pilot with considerable
seniority!

I store mine in the back in the area that should have had a spare tire, plenty of room and easy to get to if needed.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up! I just watched a video this morning. Didn’t realize mounting would require tools :-(

The only thing that gives me pause with that is I have a hybrid and I think about if a fire started from the trunk area, where the battery is stored, how it would render the extinguisher useless. I’d rather have it up front, mounted under my seat. But now I’m seeing that there are risks with trying to mount…womp

I used on of the hook bolts on the trunk to mount a fire extinguisher bracket. Not ideal because the trunk carpet does not fit well around it.

Hybrid Battery is under the rear seat. The small 12V battery is in trunk.

I have ours back in the rear storage area near the battery. In a related installation note, when I was about 20 way back in the day I thought it would be a great idea to mount an equalizer under the seat of my MGB. As I drilled down, I noticed a brown liquid. I had pierced the brake line! I used my parking brake to nurse the car down to my repair shop. They didn’t call me a dumb a.. but their eyes said it all😂. Lesson learned.

I have one in the back storage area right up front. I think your over thinking this. Get one in your car now! If you have had a fire like I did you won't hesitate.

Ah the 80s... I used to work pumping gas on a highway gas station. If I had a dollar for every time I used a fire extinguisher for an engine fire... All those greasy engines on super hot summer days suddenly without a breeze, poof, up they went.
