Default Picking up this week: Question about ceramic coating

Hey guys!

I am finally picking up my 350h this week, and my salesman offered me the “Rallye Lexus Elite Detail” for 1195 (Dropped from 1699). It includes ceramic coating exterior (Exterior EG Repel Coating: Aviation-Grade Ceramic) and interior (Interior Banoyl Protection: Never needs reapplying) (5 years), and dent/ding protection for 3 years. He also said he would include free paint touch ups. I go with this right? I will be doing a lot of street parking for work. Thanks guys!!

I can't tell ya if it's worth it or not price wise (I paid 60 bucks for the coating I put on ours - application takes a good chunk of time but is not hard, especially on a brand new vehicle), but I applied a ceramic coating myself this summer and it has been fantastic. We street park so the car get filthy and washing it is a breeze. Even tar just effortlessly washes off.

I had my Lincoln done 3 years ago, they did a new car paint correction first then did the Ceramic Coating they had my vehicle for 2 days. I can assure you it is definitely worth the $1000 I paid. My Lincoln still looks like the day I picked it up

IMO, any ceramic coating "professionally" applied, that doesn't first include a paint correction, isn't worth the money. Research true paint correction and ceramic coatings a bit. I'd suggest you start here, https://carismacustoms.com/ceramic-p...BoCFR8QAvD_BwE and then search in your own area.

Agreed on the paint correction with the ceramic coating. Since you're buying from Rallye Lexus, it looks like you're on Long Island or nearby. I recommend KS Detailing in New Hyde Park. It will probably take a while to get an appointment but Kevin does an amazing job.

I think all the features are overpriced and wouldn't get any from the dealership unless you really like them. But value means differently for different people. To be honest, those are rip off prices.

I work at a dealership as a detailer and I will tell you that the products they have (Ceramic / Interior Protection) are so generic and not worth it imho. Your car is brand new, the detailers working on your NX should do the PDI clean/prep properly.

That being said, since the vehicle is brand new the paint should be good enough for you to apply your own ceramic. Application should only take you about 20-30 minutes on the exterior and another 20-30 on the interior leather. I recommend purchasing this ceramic coating for your exterior, and this ceramic coating for the interior leather. It sounds intimidating but the application process is so easy, there's many videos online that you can follow, and you'll save yourself a few hundred dollars.

I put my two coating on myself about 6 months agol. So far I am just using car wash spray rense water only since I have not driven in really bad snow conditions, so far. It does bead very well.

Later I found this site that does monthly really world testing of durability of both pro and consumer coating. Surprising most coating are pretty much done at one year. They are exceptions that last longer, but don't buy into the hype this ceramic coating is one force field that protect your paint. You might find it useful.
