Accidents can happen, I suppose, but since you only touch this with your fingers I don't see the need. It's not like a phone that gets shoved in and out of a pocket and/or purse constantly. In our case we keep the screen off and hardly ever interact with it so we definitely don't need one.
The screen is glass, and from what I have seen so far (~3500 miles over almost four months) is quite durable. I don't think there's any benefit to a protector in this instance.
Interesting idea.
I hadn't thought about it but will at least consider it.
Agree, not required.
While my phone sees far more dangerous environments, I expect to have the car 15+ years which is not true of my phone. Probably still wouldn't see much actual damage though.
I'm curious if there are products that reduce fingerprints though. Without giving up other usability issues. Glare/Clarity/Brightness etc.
Screen isn't difficult to clean, and I've had microfiber cloths in my cars for probably 15 years already. That's not a big deal.
When I picked up my NX 350. There was already a screen protector that came with the car. Once, that protector is worn, I'll replace it with a tempered glass protector.
I have to say, I haven't noticed glare to be a problem.

Only people who have experience should really be responding to this ththid.
I have experience, both with and without, on this particular car, 14 inch screen. I purchased one of the most popular screen protectors, good quality, about $25.
100%, without doubt, objectively, it causes problems with glare. It is not worth the detriment or lower experience that the glare and color causes. Do not buy it. I took mine off and I am much happier overall.
I have a 14” one from Shaohao. Great fit and quality. Does not interfere with touch. I haven’t noticed any glare issues, but with polarized sunglasses on the top right appears to have a yellowish tint. Just the polarization of the light waves as it’s perfectly clear otherwise.
I bought it because the screen always looked a little smudged and I was leery of cleaning it too often in case there was a coating on the screen.
I like it and easy to clean. Necessary or perfect? No, but works for me.

Personally for me, I don't have a problem with glare on the 14 inch screen. I haven't removed the preinstalled screen protector yet, but I will say that it scratches a ton. Will need to see how it looks when I remove it eventually.
However, the gauge cluster does have an annoying glare.
