As far as I know the compass will only display when the HUD is set to Full.
However in my case the compass doesn't generally work, showing North direction regardless of actual travelling direction. This was the case during almost an entire 6 hour trip yesterday, working correctly only for a short time. Does the compass work for others?

A UK-based NX350h (Japan built) owner here. Seeing your post about the HUD compass constantly showing North prompted me to check on mine and lo and behold it is doing the same thing. I went on an hour's drive yesterday and the HUD refused to show anything other than N. Not sure for how long it has been like it (as I tended not to notice the compass) but now I can't un-see it!
Maybe a recent software upgrade introduced this bug and hopefully Lexus are aware of it and will fix it soon.

It was not accurate when you using navigation via carplay or android auto until the recent OTA update which finally fixed the issue.
