Hi all, I have had several vehicles with CarPlay over the years both wired and wireless CarPlay. The 2022NX is the first one I’ve experienced a super abbreviated CarPlay response. When I activate CarPlay voice recognition, simply replies “uh-huh”? then, if I listen to a text message, it asked me would you like to reply and before I can get the word yes or no out it’s already asking me what would I like to say and as soon as I finish talking it asks if I want to send it in before I can say yes or no it says OK sent.
so the first question is, has anybody noticed this phenomenon? Secondly does anybody have any idea if there are CarPlay settings in the car or within Apple that I may not have been able to find? I have scoured the menus both on the phone and the car and have found nothing about abbreviated responses or response time for CarPlay.
i’m currently using an iPhone 13 Pro and of course the 2022NX 350 F sport
It isn’t the end of the world but man it makes it tricky to get a response out or perhaps not send a response that I’m not ready to send. Lol
PS many apologies for the run-on sentence I am speaking this into my phone so it’s not perfect
I have the same issue. It's Apple and Siri, not Lexus. There are lots of complaints about it. The general consensus is that there is no way to change how Siri responds. You can, however, not wait for the response and immediately ask your question, which cuts off the response from Siri. Not ideal, but it's better than all the "Uh-huh" and Mmm-hmm" Siri is spitting out.

A different CarPlay question: The attached shows my preferred presentation of CarPlay. Except that I'd rather swap out the two dominoes on the right-hand side for something (anything?) else. Anyone know how to do that? Also, every now and then, I get a third domino on the right-hand side, the calendar, which I do like, and then it disappears without any apparent connection to the actually timing of the calendar event. In addition, that Central Park South destination (an Apple Map search I apparently performed at some point in the last 20 years) sometimes appears and sometimes does not. When it disappears, I get a generic destination search box, which is more useful. Any suggestions about refining that right-hand presentation? Many thanks.

I could be wrong but I think those 3 tiles are preset categories. The left big one is whatever navigation app you use (google maps, apple maps, waze), the top right is the directions for the current route you're navigating, and the bottom right is whatever music/audio app you're using (apple music, spotify, etc.). As for the small app icons on the left they also are set by categories: navigation, media, and communication/other (messages, phone, charging app, etc.). The calendar only appears when you have an upcoming event and disappears otherwise.

Thanks, that certainly coordinates with my experience, though the calendar tile seems to have a mind of its own. I would have thought that one could re-select the tiles on the right side, but I guess not. Appreciate your response.

There is limited customization on CarPlay but iOS 16 (due in September) is supposed to give you a lot more flexibility “depending on the car”. Tile customization is supposed to be supported.
On your iPhone: Settings, general, CarPlay, your car, customize lets you move icons around but that’s about it.
