Default Key Fob Dead

Got in the car the other day and notice on dash said key fob battery low...or something like that.

Had to hold key close to the push start to get it to go.

Next day it said it was almost dead, again had to hold it against the start button. Dealer replaced battery and was good for the drive home.

Today, one day later, totally dead. Will not start the car. Got the spare and it's ok.

Back to the dealer to get her checked out.

1,800 kms, 3 months old.

You might have a defective key fob. Get it replaced under warranty

I have been using the key card and have been going through on the average one battery a month. Starting to get expensive since these batteries range from five to $10 apiece. That’s the price of a streaming subscription. When I addressed it with the dealer, they just gave me two batteries and said go away.

Not specific to the NX, but there are many posts mentioning that keeping your cell phone in close proximity to the KEYFOB can cause it to drain more quickly. May not be the absolute cause of your issues, but it is something to do regardless and might help a bit.

Me too. No problems with the batteries.

They may be $5 -10 if you get them at a dealer but a 5-pack is only $5.49 at Amazon: Click Here
Edit - that's for the key fob. We didn't get any of those key card things so can't look that up.

The price I quoted was for the key card batteries from Amazon. they are much more expensive than the Key fob batteries

I give up, cant get the slide part of the key card where the battery must be to open...trick?

Looked it up in manual and I dont see anything about it there.

I can get the manual key out but cannot open the battery part. I guess I could get a tiny device and force it but that would scratch it for sure.

You're talking about opening the key card - correct?

Yes, the key card, on one end you can pop out the physical key and on the other end is the slider where the battery must be, I cannot get it to open. I can get the physical key out, not the battery compartment.

Here is a picture to give you an indication of how it is held on. The indents are on both sides and hold the cover on.

Thanks.

Indents? I don’t want to sound too stupid here but I don’t see any indents I don’t think, I mean I’m just grabbing onto it trying to pull it straight out or off and I can’t get it to budge.

I can take it to the dealership no problem just shouldn’t be this complicated but maybe it’s just me.

There isn’t any button or anything, you just pull on that piece that has come off in your picture correct?
