Default Spare wheel

When we were taking delivery of the NX, the finance manager really got to my wife about the "Tire and Wheel Protection" insurance. I couldn't justify the $1600 cost even though he said the "Dealer Cost" of a replacement NX 18" wheel is around $1600. The wife is now terrified that she's going to gouge up a wheel and that I'll be upset over the repair cost (Me? Upset? )

Anyway, I see someone on ebay selling a set of 4 NX 18" wheels for $200 each, but they only want to sell all 4.

Would anyone else be interested in buying 1, and if there are 4 of us, I can't see why they wouldn't sell to us and ship to 4 different addresses.

I do realize, eventually others will be selling them individually, but I figure $200+ shipping is pretty cheap insurance to have one now, even if I never have to use it.

It was a 3rd party wheel and tire insurance package that was $1600. He was using the cost of a replacement wheel ($1600) as his way to try to sell the insurance package.

I also got a quote for the Lexus Wheel and Tire package from the dealer I buy my Lexus extended warranties from, it was also $1435 for 6 years of coverage.

That's why when I saw the set of 4 for $800, I figured it might be worth the $200 for a single.

Yeah - I don't remember what crap ours was trying to sell us but he mentioned replacement key fobs costing $500. You can by OEM's off eBay all day for just over $100.

$1435 for 6 years extended coverage (includes wheel and tire ? ) sounds like a good deal.

I think my wheel and tire package is also with a 3rd party...I had it before with an RX and it was very useful and easy to use. Dealer took care of everything.

No, only the tire and wheel coverage was $1435 for the Lexus plan (6 years) from the dealer I buy my warranties from.

I paid $1295 for 4 years/120,000 miles for the Lexus extended warranty. (Tires/wheels not included). The wife drives around 30k a year.

With all of the electronics and technology in the NX, $1295 is reasonable to ensure we don't have surprise repair bills.

I would not worry about 18 inch wheels. It has a lot of rubber to cushion it from bumps and potholes as well as a decent rubber sidewall. At least this is what I see with my 18 inch wheels.

Save the money. If you do have an issue, you can then spend the money you would have spent on insurance.

I guess it also depends on your history of damaging wheels.
