Nevermind - I found out that Navigation isn't included in the other trial subscriptions and you have to pay almost $200 a year for what was always free in past cars. Welcome to manufacturers nickel and diming their customers to death. Yes - I know Android Auto can do navigation but my wife's phone has a minimal data package because she only uses it for calls and texts.
Ours is included. The only thing that is not "included" for us is the Wi-Fi hotspot subscription, which seems to expire after the first 3GB or 30 days.

Subscription navigation in Lexus language is called Drive Connect. It gets you cloud based navigation, destination assist and expanded voice commands. For the smaller 9.8" screen, there is no trial period and it's $16/month. For the larger 14" screen, you get a 3 year trial. Just clearing that up.
To your other point, built in OEM navigation was never free. You paid a certain amount of money for the navigation package. For example, the 2022 RX, adding navigation is $2285. And let's face it, typically built in nav gets old quick. Cloud based nav stays updated. At $16/month to equal $2285 is almost 12 years of always updated navigation.
It really boils down to what is it worth to you? Like you said, you can always use Android Auto. Maybe get a little higher data plan?
A. anyone know how to permanently change the hotspot password on the car? It says you can access it for one minute without if you check the box, which I did and of course I could not access it without the password, so I would like to change it to something I can remember.
B. I wondered about DESTINATION ASSIST and could not find a button for it on screen so I said "Hey Lexus" then I said "destination assist" and it dialed them for me. I then asked the Woman where the button is, she says if you dont have the paid NAV package there is no button but I can do what I did and they will help me.
C. there is no radio button to type in a radio number or like XM a channel number, that I can find...there is no button to turn the radio dial either that I can tell, but I am sure it is there somewhere?

It seems to be all automatic now and you have to select AM or FM then scroll through all the little tiles until you find what you want. I think the salesman showed us how to set favorites but since we never listen to the radio we didn't pay attention.
I think that is misleading. A top trim car came with navigation which did not require a subscription. Now even a top trim car required a subscription and the price for the car certainly has not gone down.
So even with the nav package and bigger screen after 3 or is it 5 years the nav wouldn’t work at all since it’s cloud based? Or will it just not update any longer ?

I assume as long as you keep giving them subscription money it will keep working and remain active. But if you don't subscribe, you'll get this big blue screen telling you that you can't use the NAV system without a subscription.

That is my main issue right now. I never intend to use the subscription as I will always use Carplay for that but there is apparently no way to get rid of that blue screen asking me to subscribe. It's like having a constant advertisement on my display screen. There should be a way to delete it completely.
