I have been driving my NX450 on this 38km loop picking up my other half for a few days now. It's all city driving in the evening. The top speed reached was around 70 km/h (City speed limit is 50). When fully charged, the car showed 58 km EV range as I backed onto the street. This number was 30 when I got back home. So it looked like I've used only 28 km EV range on a 38km drive.
The night temperature in Toronto is around the freezing point for these few nights. The cabin temp was set at 20 degrees Celsus with the steering warmer on auto and the radio playing. I didn't go slow. I either kept up with the traffic or a little quicker.
I think this is better than advertised. What do you think?

I agree you will get more than the 58km on the dash. If you turn off the heat, you will see 62km. I also noticed the last charge has brought the mileage EV range as temperature in Toronto has warmed up a bit. If you drive highway speeds, you will use more electric range. Driving in the city, you regen battery when you brake and cruise along.

Yes, I noticed that the highway speed used up more EV range, but I have not done any kind of record keeping for trips involved highway driving. I am now addicted to the low-end effortless torque of the NX450.

Higher speeds and our local mountains drain the battery much faster, to the point I tend to kick it into HV for highway cruising over 90km. Conversely, mid speed cruising on level roads yields much better range. Our overall average, per the car, has been about 4.7km/kwh.
I'm actually thinking we need to burn a bit of gas to keep it somewhat fresh, it is odd not filling up.
I do wish I could easily figure out how many EV vs. ICE miles we've driven.

I agree that we should burn some gas. I have purposely went into HV mode to help break in the gas engine.
Maybe that could be a suggestion to Lexus to see EV vs HV kms.

I took a picture of my dash board readout this morning and one of the things I noticed was this 22kwh/100km figure. I think this is the equivalent of L/100km for the ICE. I don't know whether this is good, average or lousy. However, I am very impressed with the 450 overall.

I'm getting about the same. The best I've seen on a long, all EV trip was 2.9mi/kWh which is about 21.4kWh/100km. Other days I've gotten about 2.7mi/kWh, which is 23. I'm not trying to be particularly 'good' about my EV range, and enjoy the torque regularly, and am also very impressed with how well the car drives, other than a bit of harshness from the ICE/CVT at higher revs, but we didn't get this primarily for spirited driving.

My 450 is dipping below the 22kwh/100 at the end of yesterday. I do enjoy the bursts of torque a lot. My RCF would be running on empty very quickly if I did this. Seems like guilt-free fun as long as I don't get ticketed by the cops.
Somewhat related note, I was floored when I filled up the tank today....I'm still resetting the trip meter on fill-up and saw 575mi/925km with 4.7gal/17.8l.
I realize this is somewhat meaningless and haven't figured in the cost of the electricity, but it was pretty amazing to see the theory of a plug-in in reality. That includes a few drives forcing the car into HV mode to continue ICE break-in. My wife's commute is mostly within the EV range, plus occasional long trips away from chargers, so this fits our use case perfectly.

Regarding the break-in of the ICE, I think it will be a while before I can get 1000km of ICE usage because my trips are also within the EV range. I might do a long trip to get this done when the weather is a bit warmer.
For the cost of electricity, I am on a tiered rate. 9.8c/kWh for the first tier and 11.5c/kWh for the second one. So I think the saving is huge compared to the current gas price.
The temperature here has warmed and in general I am getting double the milage I had in the winter. This time of the year I don’t need the climate system on.
