Default 2022 NX350 - Problems

Hi, I have a 2022 NX350 that I brought home 2/1/22. Last week, while backing out of my driveway, the car applied the parking brake and stopped short - I thought I hit something. Thank god I did not. I went on my way and figured that I did something wrong. The next day, my husband was backing out of the driveway again, and it did it to him too. Evidently the sensors think you are going to hit something so they employ the parking brake to avoid the collision.

I brought the car immediately to Lexus. So far, they have been able to replicate the problem a few times, but they do not have the fix. They are now working with corporate - anyone else experience this problem???

Are you reversing on a slope? Maybe the sensors are picking up the ground because of the angle?

My driveway is slightly sloped, but nothing steep.Preview attachment Screenshot 2022-03-22 at 3.05.54 PM.png

Lightbulb Dealer should fix - sounds like sensor problem

The sloping driveway is most likely not the cause. You apparently have a sensor problem; probably needs dealer replacement.

Good Luck.

YMMV,

sounds like RCTB is picking up something... my car (BMW M4) and wife's car (Mazda) does this sometimes as well be it backing up and braking or braking when it thinks we are going to hit car in front eventhough we see it but don't need to apply the brakes

can you disable it while they tweak adjustments or maybe replace sensors?

We have a sloping (up when backing up) and no issues, as midcow says, probably a bad sensor, particularly if the dealer has been able to replicate. Other consideration might be a busy street where it is picking up cross traffic, but typically you'd get a warning tone first and you should be able to correlate it to traffic.

Update:
I had to fill out paperwork for corporate to come in. A non-brake braking event is very serious and I have no idea what is going to happen or when I will get it back. They are examining the “box” from the car and all the images - I will update you all when I know something. For now I still have the old NX loaner car and I love it.

Default Three weeks - still no car

Corporate is still trying to figure out why it brakes on its own. I’m getting frustrated and don’t want it back - I bought a “new” car. Glad no one else seems to be having this problem

Default Backing up Brake

We have had it brake like this a couple times. Nothing near the rear. It’s def not normal. I thought it was a sensitivity thing but now I think I’ll have Lexus check it out for a bad sensor

Default Definitely have it checked

You should definitely let the dealer know - corporate said my car was the first one to have this problem - good luck

Default 6 weeks - still no car

So it's been back at the dealer for 6 weeks - they think they may know what is wrong but they do not have the parts to check. Now I am waiting for the dealership to work with Lexus to see what my options are - they have now had the car longer than I did.....

Thank you for the update. Looking forward to reading how Lexus handles this for you.

I
I also have a NX 350 2022 and have experienced the same problem-Right now it’s in the dealership and they have had to send for a Brake Actuator. That part won’t come in until July. Considering applying the Lemon Law.

I also have an NX350 2022 experiencing the same thing- they said that it is Brake Actuator- part won’t be here until July. Bought the car in January 2022 and it only has 2000 miles. Considering Lemon Law- the Lemon Law in my state says that a car kept more than 30 days for service-consumer may ask for a refund or a comparative car. My car has been in for 7 days and they gave me a loaner that has “maintenance flashing”.

Be careful and take it immediately to Lexus dealer. Mine had the same thing and it needs an immediate replacement of
a Brake Actuator part. They wouldn’t even release the car to me. The part is supposed to come in in July. After 30 days in shop, I can apply for the Lemon Law.
