Default Car jerks when braking

I have a new 2022 NX 350. Got it in January. I have noticed the car makes a brief jerking sensation when braking. I turned on gear position and it happens specifically when decelerating from 4th gear to 3rd gear. Issue less pronounced if I turn off the stop/start engine setting, but still there. Wondering if this is just my car or something others have noticed. When the jerking sensation happens, the tachometer jumps up a bit.

Not totally sure what you mean. When you say turned on gear position, what do you mean, using paddle controls? I don't think that the auto stop has anything to do with it if you are moving.

my car is automatic transmission. But there is an option on the dashboard display to show what gear position the car is in (1st gear, 2nd gear etc). I noticed that my issue happens when car is at same gear….going from 4th to 3rd gear. I’m not manually changing the gears with the paddle controls.

It's brand new, take it back to the dealer.

Got it! Need to find that option
I remember when they tried to fix my RX hesitation issues, after the ecu/ecm was reloaded, you could feel the tranny was much tighter, and you could see the bump in the tach and feel a little jerk while it downshifted. It eventually went away...
Like Kenny says...take it back to dealer.
Hopefully it works out and is something easy to adjust or fix.

Update: getting the unfixed car back today. I did a ride along with the diagnostics specialist on Friday who noted the issue and recorded a lot of data. All that info was sent to Lexus corporate awaiting a response…..

Feature to simulate manual shifting. You are going too fast when downshifting to manual 3rd gear. You are getting engine braking.

NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR.

Umm no. I am not manually shifting into 3rd. My issue happens when car automatically goes from 4th to 3rd with deceleration (whether braking or just taking foot off the gas).

I can't figure out how you are seeing the gear you are in other than running the gear shift in manual...

Can you help how you see the gear on the dash?

Thanks,
Peter

it is one of the dashboard display options. “Gear position.” See the image below from the manual.

I have the same issue with my NX350, also happens from gear 4 to 3 when breaking. Do you have any update from Lexus?

Nope. I have heard nothing back from my Lexus dealership or Lexus corporate. And that was a few weeks ago that I had brought the car in to get checked out…

We just bought a new 2023 NX350 and it’s jumping while breaking like you describe. Did you ever find a solution to this?
