Default Anyone install a dash cam?

Has anybody installed a dash cam yet on their NX? Going to put one in and deciding if I should hardwire it or not. If anyone has installed one how did you do it? Thanks

Not yet - waiting for releases that are a custom fit for this model.

Not quite done but I'm installing a Garmin mini 2 dash cam. very small (it has no screen), just sticking it just below the mirror housing on the windshield. I'm going to usse an OBD port adapter for power (Garmin sells one that provides 2 usb ports). I'm going to wire a radar detector into that too since the detector I got (Radenso DS1) runs off a USB port as well. Just run the wires under the ceiling trim at the top of the windshield, down A pillar then under weather stripping just like many do with fuse taps. This is easier, provides constant power (though garmin adapter has a switch to autmatically turn off power after an hour or 15 minute so as not to drain the battery). Easy to remove adapter from OBD port for diagnostics. Only taps the power sources from the OBD port, won't mess with the computer.

I saw the pics, great job! Was routing the wires to the fuse box easy? I’m looking at getting the ThinkWare dash an, like my current one, and just wondering how you were able to make all the wiring neat.

Just a heads up on the use of the Toyota/Lexus OBD port as a power source.

When my Blackvue camera system (DRS750-2C) was initially installed to the OBD port in my Avalon, it discharged my car battery to a level where the car wouldn't start. It was setup to allow parking mode, with a Power Magic switch that monitored the battery voltage and would disable the parking mode if the battery voltage fell below the level need to start the car. I was told by the seller that Toyota (and I assume Lexus as well) OBD ports were not properly configured or reliable enough to use as a primary power supply like this case. We rewired to hard wire, using the same switch, and have had no further issues for the last three years.

I used the Magic Pro that has different settings. There is also a switch that you can turn the parking mode off.
Blackavue has a voltage check and so does the Magic Pro. You can set the battery voltage level to have it shut off and/or 6 hour increments.
On my 2018 ES 350 it worked fine until the factory battery started getting weird. The dealer replaced the battery (bad cell). I had had the camera for 2 years at that point.
You can purchase a lithium battery supply for BlackVue that recharges when the car is running.

Interesting. The OBD adapter I'll be using has a switch to cut power after 15 minutes as well as low battery voltage detection and shutoff. the camera and radar detector have settings for auto off I believe as well, so hopefully belt and suspendors to prevent battery drain. But I'll keep an eye on it

which fuses did you tap into for constant and acc? Just installed a thinkware dash cam today and have it plugged into the 12v outlet currently. I’m not sure which fuses are constant and which ones turn on with ignition

I used the fuse for the power tilt/telescope wheel(hot all the time) and the 12 volt power outlet(only on when car is on.
