Hi! I am struggling about the fuel i should put into my nx 2022 350h. I saw in the manual:
Recommended to use premium unleaded gasoline with octane rating of 91 (Research OctaneNumber of 96) or higher for optimum engine performance. You may use unleaded gasoline with octane rating as low as 87 (Research Octane Number of 91). In this case, engine performance may be decreased. Use of octane rating unleaded gasoline with an octane rating lower than 87 may result in engine knocking. Persistent knocking can lead to engine damage.
So does it mean a long term serving with 87 is still acceptable? or it would be better to combine the usage of 87 and 91?
How the performance will be decreased?
I just purchased my 350h three days ago and was told that you can use 87 or 91. They said 91 was for the best performance; however, I most likely wouldn’t even notice a difference if I used 87.
NX350: Select premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 (Research Octane Number 96) or higher required for optimum engine performance and fuel economy. If the octane rating is less than 91, damage to the engine may occur and may void the vehicle warranty.

from current US manual:
NX350: Select premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 (Research Octane Number 96) or higher required for optimum engine performance and fuel economy. If the octane rating is less than 91, damage to the engine may occur and may void the vehicle warranty.

Below are screenshots from the PDF version of the owner’s manual. This information matches my US owner’s manual that’s inside of my vehicle.

Same as already posted. Don't confuse octane rating and research octane rating. The minimum that can be used is octane rating 87 which is regular gasoline. The octane rating of 87 has a research octane rating of 91; this is NOT the same as the octane rating of 91.

Your manual seems to conflict with mine mine was just downloaded within the last week. They do say different things about the NX 350 versus the NX 250. Mine specifically mentions damage and voided warranty if anything less than 91 is used in the NX 350.

That’s because the original post was asking about a 350h, which is a hybrid. Your manual is not showing information for a hybrid, according to your screen shot.

you are confusing Research Octane Number and Octane number

You are confusing Research Octane Number and Octane Number; Less than 91 is talking about Research Octane Number. Reread your manual more closely.
Until very recently there was only one NX manual available online for downloading and it specifically said 2022 NX 350h.
There is now a second manual for the 2022 NX250 and the 2022 NX350.
This is still not a specific manual on the 2022 NX450h+
So gasoline summary:
2022 NX250 can burn Regular minimum octane 87 ( Octane Research Number 91)
2022 NX350 requires Premium minimum octane 91 (Octane Research Number 96) - This is the non-hybrid 2.4 L turbo.
2022 NX350h can burn Regular minimum octane 87 ( Octane Research Number 91)
2022 NX450h+ manual not available online but Regular will more than likely work since ICE part is basically the same as NX 350h; increased power due to larger electric motors and larger battery.
OP, @Lunfengzhe, @Kimberly88, and @ctripps2k I apologize if I caused any confusion since I was using the only manual originally available as a reference, which was specifically for the 2022 NX 350h.
