Default E-Brake

This might be a silly question but this is my first time using an e-brake instead of manual hand brake. I have the nx350h and I park on a slope in front of my garage. Every time I press the P button and take my foot off the brake the car shakes a little. Am I doing something wrong or is that normal? The car also shudders when I put it in reverse to back out of the driveway.

okay I realized what happened I didn’t engage the handbrake before putting the car in park and only used the parking pawl as braking mechanism for three weeks. The salesman told me everything was automatic and I don’t need to engage the brake sighhhh I hope I didn’t damage my transmission too much…

The salesperson is right. The parking brake could be automatic. Once you go into park, it will activate the parking brake.

First Lexus we’ve owned with this feature. Sure beats the hec out of the manual foot brake on my 2018 ES (reminds me of my Tundra). I find myself not using the e-brake on my ES except on inclines.

Our sons 2018 Mazda 3 GT has the auto e-brake and so the concept wasn’t new to me.

It’s really a nice feature.
