I was told that the activity mount is specifically NOT for towing anything. It is only for mounting a bike rack, etc. I am supposed to be getting one installed on my 350H with Lux Package that is supposed to be arriving end of Feb - early March. (I was not able to negotiate any reduction in MSRP but I was able to get the dealer to "throw this in" at no extra cost. I am pretty sure it is dealer installed.)
Its supposed to be rated for 2000 lbs - same as the Rav4. That is definitely towing territory - like jet skis or a small Uhaul and I am hoping that is not wrong.

available now is the activity mount, that is not to be used for towing. Supposedly, coming in the spring, will be an actual tow hitch.
Thanks for showing us. Hmm. It clearly says not for towing. Does it effect the back door lift kick sensor?
Well, they're supposed to deactivate the kick sensor, but they didn't and it still works. It's a setting that you can activate and deactivate yourself in the infotainment display. You'd obviously want to just be really careful to not forget about it if something is mounted on the back and pop the trunk with it on there or you'd be visiting a bodyshop or looking at some unsightly marks on the gate for years.
Yes, you can't tow anything with the activity mount. It's strictly for bike racks. If you want to tow, you'd need to get the other option which I don't think is available yet. That I'm sure will cost more, but will give you the ability to tow something small and will allow for an electrical hook up for lights.

Reason: forgot to respond to his second question.
Had the activity mount installed on my NX 350 H and then tried to use my very generic bike rack (I have had it for years, I believe it is a standard 2” bike rack) and to my surprise, it doesn’t fit.
the opening of the activity mount is less than 2” opening. I thought that 2” was pretty standard?
I'm in the same situation. that activity mount is a class 2 type which is 1-1/4-in and you need to buy an adapter in order to use your 2-in bike rack. see the link https://www.lowes.ca/product/trailer...-adapter-85621
Lexus said in the spring there would be a 2 inch hitch available for towing. It is now spring, has anyone heard any updates on when this may be available?

I asked an advisor this morning while waiting for the car to be served but unfortunately still no ETA for the tow hitch yet. it seems the design didn't pass the safety test so they need a bit more time to improve it.
If you live near Tempe, AZ, you can get a free class-3, 2” hitch installed from UHall.
check out their website for details… They’re looking for a 2022 NX in the area.

I looked it up and saw this "Your vehicle requires a custom-built hitch which we will gladly fabricate for you. If you are able to bring your vehicle to our Tempe, AZ Research & Development facility we'll provide you with a free U-Haulcustom trailer hitch, including free installation, and a lifetime unlimited warranty in exchange for the use of your vehicle to fabricate the trailer hitch. We'll need the vehicle for three to five days. If you are interested in this offer please complete the form below and we'll contact you to schedule your appointment. This offer is only valid until one customer per vehicle can fulfill our requirements." I would do it if I live close to that location.
This from my local Lexus Dealer: "The tow hitch cost $1,100, also the tow hitch not going to be available until July or end of August."
Side note: I was able to negotiate the trade of one dealer add-on that I didn't want for the tow hitch if I do it through them. Helped me feel good about the deal.
