2022 NX 2nd generation 1st year problems
I am seriously frustrated with my new 2022. Every day there is a problem with the maps, the app, etc. it’s not reliable and I am frustrated. Lexus has told me they are working on it. My 2015 nx had none of these problems and I wish I had it back.
Generally, I would never buy a car in which it's the 1st year of a new release.
It's far better to wait for the 2 or 3rd year in which they have fixed all the major issues but Lexus is probably far better than any other car company.
So for 1st-year of then 2022 NX. I wonder are major issues should we expect?
The only thing I can think of is the new 14 in screen.
What about the engine and battery? What are brand new and not something upgraded from the older generation?
[Common issues identified]
1. Car alarm went off randomly - Found rear cargo area led sill plate has internal failure causing vehicles alarm to activate and discharge battery - per Lexus disconnected sill plate and will advise the customer when an updated part has arrived - NXBob
2. Profile issue on the infotainment
3. Unable to link the car to app
4. Vibration on the side mirror

Coldcat…I lived with all of that…minus the alarm issue. Really tested my limits. And Lexus finally unwound me. Required 5 separate visits. It drove well…..noisy and bouncy in the back seat. Glad to rid myself of this vehicle. The RAV Prime is much more satisfying.
Competing profiles issue on my 450h+: I have successfully set up two driver profiles with electronic keys linked to each.: #1 is primary (me) and #2 is for my wife.
We often get into the car at the same time, with me driving and she as passenger. With both of us in possession of our electronic key, she may reach the car first, open the passenger door and get in. I will then enter the driver's door, but the system is acknowledging her as the active profile. I have to manually bring up the screen, select my profile, and enter my PIN code to switch over to my profile. (This also sometimes doesn't work and requires the car to be totally powered off with a period of time in between to "reset" and recognize my profile as active.)
Both profiles work flawlessly if either of us are driving alone, or if we leave one of our keys behind before getting in the car.
How to prioritize the "primary" driver profile (or any profile) to be selected when two are in proximity to the vehicle?

Not a solution, but a bandage for the specific issue of restarting the car... You can restart only the infotainment system itself by holding down the radio power/volume button in the middle for a few seconds until the screen goes black, then it'll go through the startup cycle. Saves you from having to stop the car then turn the whole thing off and back on again.
Just drove it home from the Dealer lot with the 450h. Its pretty good so far. I didn't realize I was driving home the whole time using EV lol.
Though a couple of things kind of bother me.
1. Is the side mirror on the driver side being loose normal. Not used to driving an SUV and when im looking at the left side the inside mirror shakes, that isn't the case on the right side.

I have the same issue with the 2018 nx300. Too bad after all those years the problem persist.
This is pushing me toward the 350h (Luxury) instead of the 450h+ (Premium), I have done some calculations.. based on spec for Canada...
The 450h+ will save me about $5,000 over 10 years because of gas, + more horse power... but it $4,300 more expensive with less included (e.g. no panoramic moonroof, Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking, fewer safety options, etc)

That's with the 8000 from the government ?
I'm thinking the same,. It made me confused which one to go for.
6 mos ownership of '21 Rav4 Prime XSE and now 1 mo with the NX 450h+.... if you can, go for the 450h+. More power, MPG nearly the same as straight hybrid, and potential tax credits/rebates. Other than no spare tire, pano, and ML sound (geez, coulda, woulda Lexus!), we're very happy with the 450h+.
I owned my 2022 NX 350 Premium for a whole 2 weeks and returned it at a huge loss to me and bought my old F-sport back. Why?
1) the user profile never automatically prompted me to enter my code when I got into the car and I had to go into settings and manually force it. If I happened to forget? Oh well, can only do it while parked which did me absolutely no good while i was stuck in traffic on the highway trying to find an alternative to get home. You don’t get any of your subscriptions or recent destinations in guest mode.
2) while my text messages played back when I received them, I couldn’t get back to them via bluetooth. There was nothing there. Had to use carplay.
3) the wireless cell phone charging pad was sporadic. It usually never worked.
4) the windshield wipers would never go to the edge of the windshield despite being adjusted by service and stopped right in my field of vision, leaving a 4 inch gap on the left side of the windshield that I couldn’t see out of when it rained.
5) The gas engine has a feature that when you step on the brake will shutoff and start the engine like a hybrid to save gas. While this sounds like a great feature on paper, it cannot be disabled and can only be temporarily shut off via a button that resets when you shut off the car. Sounds great? Yeah… sure. My car stopped and started so much in stop and go traffic on the highway that it literally killed my battery. It got so low that the auto shutoff stopped functioning altogether with an error that said “battery charging” for 3 days afterwards. This was the killer for me.
on top of all of this, the day I picked up my car, it wouldn’t connect to any of Lexus’s services while at the dealership so I couldn’t even go through any of the settings while I was there. I spent 10 hours, wasted a work day, and they were back and forth with tech support trying to get my car to even function.
bottom line, this car is a piece of crap and feels like a cheap Toyota instead of a lexus. Unless they make some big improvements, my 2020 NX will be the last lexus I own and I’ve had 4 of them previously.

I am surprised that you incurred a "huge loss," and you're lucky to buy back your old F-Sport. Used cars get snapped up so quickly in this crazy market! What a bad experience you had, but glad you excised the problem.

If you had connected your phone to CarPlay messages to they CarPlay. I have two phones connected to my NX and using Android Auto. I can use my iPhone to read messages via Bluetooth and android messages via Android auto.
I think it's an extreme saying this is a cheap Toyota. Just a lot of unfortunate things happening. Many of us have problems with the Qi charger is you are using iphone 12 and 13s. Profile issues occur, but linking the key seems to work 99% of the time.
Some of these things won't be fixed by software, but stop and go issue you experienced is as designed. Not much can be done there. Oh well ...
There are issues with every new generation, and a lot of them are compounded by the car's infotainment system being the star of the show here. I think Lexus is invested in fixing all of these issues as they transition their entire lineup to the new system.
I would definitely not call this car a cheap Toyota. This thing is light years ahead of our RAV, and there are absolutely zero regrets with this purchase. I'm sure some issues will pop up with the car, but I don't see any reason to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I got the 350H Luxury day before yesterday and Lexus was unable to link the car to my app. So I can't access any of my trials and subscriptions. Can't use navigation, or Hey Lexus or and of the digital and remote features and they have no idea how long it's going to take to fix this. I feel robbed. What's the point of paying for a fully loaded car and you can't use half the features they bragged about when trying to sell it to me.
Have the NX 350 Premium and mostly love it. One issue I've had is with CarPlay music sometimes cutting out and crackling for a few seconds before playing back from where it left off. Qi charging is fine, but I have an older iPhone. Haven't integrated any profile in the car yet, since I refuse to update iOS to the crappy new layout so I can't download the Lexus app. Other issue similar to what someone else has mentioned in their review: road noise isn't great. Drove a relative's '21 NX 300 and it's a lot quieter in the cabin. Looks-wise, the '22 350 exterior has the edge over the '21 300 IMO, and I'm happy to have it. I liked the watch inset in the '21 300, but am glad to not have to deal with the weird mousepad.
Features I wish it had: walk away lock and the side mirrors beeping if it detects an oncoming car when changing lanes. Got too used to the Honda safety features, and miss them.

So far, we've had plenty of issues with our 2022 NX350:
1. New flat panel instrument cluster rattles, especially around the driver side air vent. It's a constant buzz on some freeway surfaces. There are youtube videos of this at this point. It needs to be removed and insulated with foam pads or similar.
2. Center storage bin uses a new double hinge design. The lid rattles and creeks. I've had to insert foam insulation pads in multiple places to prevent it from shifting side to side and rattling. It can be done and is worth it.
3. the lower front seat belt anchors need to be insulated from knocking against the plastic trim panels. I've also done this with foam/fuzzy pads.
4. The engine exhibits knock and detonation mostly under load between 2-3K RPM. I've pumped 100 octane racing fuel into the tank but there is still some knock. Lexus really needs to refine this engine. It sounds fine when you rev it at a stop light but once it's under load, the knock returns. There's a post on this forum referring to "turbo gargling sound" or something, which is really about this engine knock problem. The engine management software needs to be updated to control knock better. Not sure why this hasn't received a TSB or Recall yet. It's really noticeable.
5. The power tailgate has absurd logic. You can close it while you are standing there, but if you push the close/lock button, it won't close until you walk away from the vehicle. WHY?
Those are the most pressing issues we want fixed. If I think of any more, I'll post them.

Yes. The new double hinge design allows the lid to shift back and forth. Also, if you open the lid, you can lift the front edge up and down. That should not be. The fitment tolerances are far too high. I've had to insert foam pads in many places to prevent the lid from shifting. It works.
