Screen mode, day, dark or auto?
We find the center screen on our NX hard to read, tried adjusting brightness and contrast already. Just wondering what other owners have the screen backlit adjusted to, day, dark or auto.
I would need to verify, but I’m pretty sure ours is set to auto. I believe that is the default and I would have left it alone until or if I felt like it was a problem. I should add that we don’t have any difficulty reading the screen.
I have mine to auto, if you do not set it to auto, you would have issues with reading stuff on your screen as it is going to be either too light, or too dark to read; auto makes it a contrast view, so you can easily see things.
Be sure that the light sensor (quarter sized black dome) on the top of the dashboard is not obscured. Letting it get covered will both trigger the headlights and dim the dash and center displays. Dim displays are fine at night but tough to see in the daylight.
Coming from a Mercedes, the Lexus screen is hard to read. The contract, font and background are simply not as brilliant as the Merceds displays, even the last gen NX’s display was better. We tried all the modes, each has its own issue so we are back to auto. The night mode needs a lighter background and the contrast in the day mode is terrible. Glare is also a big issue in the new NX, even the gauge display is not as bright as it should be, so we end up using the heads up display most of the time. .
