Default Screen auto brightness nonsense

How do you guys deal with the screen auto brightness? Its always dimming and brightening when going under an overpass or when driving in a city with lots of shadows. Being in NYC this is non stop.

Is there really no setting to stop this behavior? Its insanely annoying.

The setting for auto headlights has nothing to do with it either. I tried all 5 settings, still terrible- im guess they are completely unrelated.

Android Auto allows this setting. I saw nothing in the car display settings to do this.

Im saying the screen gets dim and bright randomly with small variations in ambient light...like when I drive through a shadow or under an overpass the screen dims and then pops back to bright as i leave the low light area. No car has ever done this, at least not as abruptly as this infotainment is doing it and its quite annoying since it goes from minimum brightness to max instantly and it happens 10+ times a drive.

Sounds like a software bug if Automatic is turned off and it still does that. It's the same sensor, so I can't see how they could mess that up, but maybe they have.

Its not changing from light mode to dark mode. Just the brightness of the backlight in dark mode is always changing instantly the moment you drive through a low lit area even on a bright day.

Well where is the ambient light sensor? Maybe covering it with a piece of tape will stop this, then the screen bright/contrast can be adjusted manually. What is the sense of having manual adjustments for brightness/contrast, if its automatically adjusted as the light changes?

It looks like the dealer can adjust the sensitivity of the auto-brightness.
Image is from the Lexus Personalized Settings guide, which I have attached.

Default Display screen automatically dim even with Daylight selected and automatic off

Hi,

Did anyone figure out how to stop it from automatically dim whenever you get out of a garage or driver under a freeway overpass?

Previous post shows 'how to'.

If it is a dealer action, bring it in.

Ours works consistently under most conditions.
