Default Recall for: Outside door handle assembly replacement

I have another recall today (for Canada) to fix frozen door handles:

Overview
Limited Service Campaign LB3 - Remedy Notice - Certain 2022-2024 NX and 2022
RX vehicles - Outside door handle assembly replacement
Dealer ID • CANLB3

Description
Affected models are equipped with e-latch switch on the outside door handles.
Under certain conditions water can enter via the outside of the door handle and freeze when temperature is low.
This is preventing the internal switch from being pressed and making it impossible to unlatch the
door from the outside by the e-latch switch however it is possible to unlatch the door manually

Remedy
Remedy Status: Remedy Available
Any authorized Lexus dealer will replace previously not replaced outside door handles, FREE of CHARGE.

Thanks for the heads up. I would not have noticed it since the Health tab was always showing the red dot for the backup camera recall. I guess I'm getting a bunch of new door handles too.

Me too. I thought I'd look to see if camera fix had come through and there were 2 listed today.

I wonder if the Lexus app would also unlock the doors if they were frozen?

The problem isn't the unlocking, it's that the handle release button can get water in them, and freezes so the button can't be pressed. Still need that whether doors are locked or not.

On a related note, in light of the recent NHTSA investigation into Tesla door handles, and China's proposed ban on retractable door handles, how does the community feel about the safety of our door handles? In some of the tragic cases where people have perished in the Tesla accidents, bystanders were not able to open the Tesla's doors because the electronics were incapacitated by the collision. Do you feel confident that a bystander or emergency services personnel would know how to use the exterior emergency release lever? And does that lever work without the key? (I have only seen videos from Lexus showing the manual door handle release with the use of a physical key). I feel safe from the inside, knowing it's pull twice to open.

It should unlock automatically in case of crash hopefully, like in any car. But in a serious crash whatever doors would be jammed and would not open without firefighter tools or maybe a serious kick from inside if you are lucky. Somebody being able easily open doors from outside is also serious risk in different circumstances.
On the side note, I was shown by my salesman that you need double pull the inside handle for manual release. I doubt many would know there is a lever outside, but it isn't my biggest concern in life really.

I don't see any campaigns/recalls in my app. Year specific maybe?

Notice states: Certain 2022-2024 NX and 2022 RX vehicles

I personally have a window breaker I carry in my car for this reason. Plus think about it. A simple flimsy wire is the weakest link to have your car's safety system unlock your doors in an emergency like an accident. Well what if the door was hit and the wire severed? No auto unlock is going to work then. A glass smasher and belt cutter is the go to life saver! for less than $10!

Don't forget go for rear side windows, or moonroof maybe. Front ones are laminated as in many nicer cars.

Ah yes, the Tesla Cybertruck fiasco. Laminated glass preventing people escaping their truck as it was on fire. Yes the NX front side windows are laminated too.

Well these aren't cheap but do the job. Over $200
