Default Lexus on a roll

With all the new technology especially infotainment system Lexus has introduced in the last few years amazing #1 in dependability and now 2025 just released initial quality. Last year initial quality #8. Dependability is surveying owners of three year old models and initial quality surveys owners at 90 days.

It is interesting that Lexus is at the top and Toyota is halfway at the bottom

Yet Lexus can’t produce a decent program capable of efficiently charging a 12v Lead Acid Battery. As so many of us around the world can attest.🤬😢

J D Power receives money from car manufacturers for their surveys. What manufacturer would not want to know what owners of theirs vehicles are saying. They survey over 100,000 owners a year.

J D Power surveys all owners not just subscribers to CR magazine. J D Power surveys approximately four times more owners than CR. I put very little credence in CR.

The fact that they’re comfortable with the perception of manufacturer influence is enough to put me off them. When the survey comes out the manufacturers will know what owners think. Why would they pay unless it has influence? CR surveys engaged owners and also buys their own vehicles for testing. Opinions differ, but I prefer an unbiased sample, quality over quantity.

If you were Toyota you are saying you would not buy over 6,000 surveys from owners of your vehicles to find out what they like or don't like. That is ludicrous.

Lightbulb Most Surveys are Complete Hogwash Guesses

Polls are polls. Some are bought. Some are from happy car owners. Some are from unhappy car owners. Almost none are statistically correct, because they do not gather a random unbiased sample of the desired data.

Take all pools with a big grain of salt because most are just SWAGS.

Read this book , it will open your eyes : "How To Lie With Statistics" by Darrell Huff, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to...ith_Statistics

YMMV,

The money is given for influence in my eyes as a consumer. You have to pay them or you aren’t eligible for an award… I’m sure they get feedback from customers at the dealership as well. Their IQS mainly gets people complaining about voice controls, switch positions , wind noise, etc. Those are things I will judge for myself before a purchase. I care about reliability. JD Power doesn’t have value for me.

I don't trust either, but I trust Consumer Reports more than JD Power. I think JD Power USED to have reliable information, but I think they "sold their souls".

So the question is: Where DO you get trustworthy information on the reliability of new and used cars??

This site seems to have the right concept, but it doesn't seem to be widely used and there's a pay wall.

Do you know how J D Power receives revenue from car manufacturers. Please attach facts how a manufacturer has to pay them to receive awards. Before posting an opinion do Internet search.
While companies do not pay to receive a J.D. Power award, they must pay a licensing fee to use the award in their advertising. J.D. Power conducts independent and unbiased research through consumer surveys, but they also offer licensing agreements to companies that rank highly in their studies, allowing them to promote their awards.

@Freds430 , Yes J. D. Powers is one of the better survey companies relating to automobiles. However, it is still a survey.

See what Forbes says : https://www.forbes.com/sites/serenit...ly-inaccurate/
