hopefully they replaced them with the latest updated version of the sensors. 👍Originally Posted by Tlbrownie
I had the same problem. I took it to Lexus and they said it was a sensor so they replaced it. A couple weeks later it happened again and they said it was the other sensor and they had to replace that one. I don't know why they just didn't replace both at the same time. Good thing is there's only two and they've both been replaced.

As this is part of a safety system that the manufacturer has put into all their cars, possibly due to Federal safety regulations, I really don't think you would even be able to find someone willing or capable to deactivate a safety device on your car for fear of liable actions. It would be like asking someone to deactivate your brakes because you don't feel you need them. This device is there to prevent someone from getting trapped by the POWERED CLOSING REAR DOOR. Without it someone could be injured! If you can't handle dealing with a repair on a car to keep it safe then don't own a car.Originally Posted by Zookenator

When the back door is opening or closing and encounters resistance, it stops. While the rubber strip sensors react to a very light touch to prevent pinching, the motor torque system will stop the closing back door when it encounters resistance.
