Greetings,

The hardtop on my IC 250 has an alarm, and it is complaining of the roof not being fully closed.

I did take it to the dealer, and they wanted $8,500 to fix it (but would not give details on what needed replaced).

Does anyone have suggestions on troubleshooting or alternative technicians? Hoping to keep the fix under $1k.

Turn them off and see what happens. I used to have the same issues with the top opening and closing due to the sensors so I turned them off and never had a issue since.

A most intriguing suggestion from tanweerr12 and really hope it works - we IS250-C owners live in fear of roof issues! The roof mechanics are a superb design enabling the car to look great with the top up or down.

 

Many of us have had problems with the microswitches that are used in the mechanism. I had a problem and the dealer charged $2300 to fix it and that included a mechanism with an electric motor that cost about $!!00.

Get a good OBD code reader and find out the code that begins with the letter B for body. Those codes point pretty much right at the defective part..

I would also find another dealer.
