Kick sensor
We have a new NX350H and had the dealer install the Toyota activity mount. They didn't tell us but we found out the mount blocks the liftgate kick sensor. And the service dept. says there's no workaround. I'd hate to mess with the sensor, but any ideas?
You need to get a replacement kick sensor : a replacement kicksensor (8910A-78010) since the hitch blocks the OEM stock sensor. I am surprised your Lexus Service Center did not know this.
I had the Activity Mount factory installed and have the kicksensor (8910A-78010) and it works with the Activity Mount. Kick under the "E" ; a little left of center.
YMMV,

I installed a hitch and had to deal with the kick sensor.
there is a shorter version out there (don’t remember the part number).
Anyway, I removed the old one and installed the new one without having to tear the back of the NX apart.
Took me about an hour so it is very doable.
I didn’t want to chance Letting the magic smoke out of my brand new 350h so I took it to Uhaul and they did a great job for a couple of hundred $ where as Lexus wanted to charge around $1000!
On thing that was unanticipated was that I had to move the trailer wiring connection from the left of the hitch to the right as it interferes with the sensor.
It was an easy job and if anyone needs an OEM sensor I’ve got one.

Same here. But I did have to make an effort to figure out exactly where to kick to make it work. First few times I tried it, I had no luck. I think it's just a little trickier with the activity mount.
