Faulty Sensors, get to your dealership, they'll replace it under warranty, is common issue on these cars and a known issue by Lexus, already happened to me!!

I just had this happen. It could be a failure of the sensor (pinch sensor). It lets the hatch know that nothing is in the way. If I remember correctly, it should be on, but when it fails, it reads off. It will open but not close. To be on the safe side, get it tested because the part is on backorder. It is a known issue. I'm looking at two to three weeks until the part is sent to the dealership. Hope this helps.

I am starting to have the same issue, it seems to work some days, but then refuses to close the other days, you never know if it would work or not from day to day lol I did not want to bring it to the dealer and then it would work for them so IDK if I should wait till it really fails, or just take it and let them look at it and then they would say everything is working just fine lol

I don't see this problem on mines so far. Knock on wood. If this were to happen out of warranty, I wonder how much to fix?

I would video the event each time with my phone so that I could show them when you take it in. I had the same problem with a CPO and they would NTF me No Trouble Found. Then when I took the video they replaced the motorized struts and never happened again. They are expensive, fortunately it was covered on my CPO warranty.

Hey, an FYI! I had the same issue again after 9 months. I just left the dealership and they told me that they have this issue a lot and there was an updated version of the sensors that came out in March that will correct the issue permanently. I will update today after they order the new and approved parts and install them. I'll post the updated Part Numbers.

update! The part numbers are 84280-F6010 Sensor Assy Power B, 84270-F6010 Sensor Assy, Power B. 👍

IDK what the heck is happening with these stpd sensors I had the issues with the hatch not closing for about a week, like almost every other day it would refuse to close then it would work then it wouldn't, it was like that for a week. Then the next week when I got the appointment everything started to work without any issues. So the dealer told me that they cannot reproduce the issue for them to find and replace the bad sensor and I can come back any time the issues pops up again. But since that one weird week that the back door would not work, it works just fine ever since

Interesting to read your experience too. Mine did it once a couple weeks ago, I got a little irritated by the concept of powered door closing, hey, I’m old and grew up closing my own hatchbacks, grabbed it and shut it forcefully. Worked since.

Default Hatch closing malfunction

The problem I have is when using the hatch LOCK button, it's inconsistent. We have an underground parking garage and I finally figured out the "correct" method to walk away after pushing it. Works maybe 80% of the time but I never know until I hear the correct BEEP.

However, in our Safeway parking lot, it hardly ever shuts using the lock button.

I've given up anf use the "just close" button and then lock it with the fob while waking away.

This was snot an issue with our '21 Venza or '25 UX309h.

My '22 NX350h doesn't work 100% all the time with my close and lock button in a public parking lot either. I've given up trying to understand what caused it to stop. It's pretty good about 80-90% of the time. But I always turn back and look to see my side mirrors have turned in and door is closed to confirm I have locked it up. I know it's basically looking for anything to possibly impede it closing or getting caught by the closing door as a hazard, meaning someone is walking nearby, a car moving nearby a bush moving nearby a plastic bag blowing in the wind nearby. You just don't know so I don't waste my time to understand why it stopped.
