Default Cooling Seats

I’m not sure if this is right. When my cool seat function is on only the lower seat portion is cool. The back portion is not cooled. Is that normal?

Back rest is "ventilated" as well but I've never been terribly impressed with its effectiveness. It works best if you lean forward off the backrest to allow the air to vent out once in a while because if you lean back and cover most of the seat back, well, minimal air can flow out so minimal cooling feel on your back. It could really use a 5HP blower motor in the seat.

Agreed. My first car with cooled seats. I thought that when on top setting I would feel some quick relief, but no it barely impacts you, the back and bottom are cooled but as mentioned, simply sitting in them, you block the openings and not much gets through. Everything about this model you can see they took a look at cost savings and gas mileageI I feel. The fan settings for HVAC don't seem to push out what my older car did, the travel provided for seat bottom is less, the range for steering wheel tilt and extend, all are less than older cars use to be. Even the recline for rear seatback is skimpy, it's only about 3 inches. Sunglass holder wouldn't even fit a kids set. dome light and spot light are terribly dim. Exceptions are steering wheel heat, ML stereo, great exterior lighting.

This is my first experience with having a cool seat function. I am totally unimpressed. I hear a lot of noise when that function is being used but really cannot tell a difference in cooling whether its on or off. And yes, the sun glasses holder is so small it's barely functional!

Seat back blower does exist, agree it's very very weak.

Found a blowout diagram, see item 14 is seat back blower :

I'll take comfortable good quality cloth seats that you don't need to peel your but off of in the heat and a powerful blower motor for the AC all day any day.

I keep one of these handy for just such an occasion.

This is my first car with ventilated seats and I can feel the ventilation when I'm driving and have the fan on high.

It's subtle, but it is noticeable to me, especially on long journeys, if only from the generally cooler and less sweaty condition I arrive in after hours on the road.

Forget a career in marketing. lol

I love the heated seats, but rarely use the cooled seats. Then again, a hot day here is high 70s.

repost:
Lexus HVAC auto will blow warm air to the floor vents when it is cold outside, hot air rises, right?
The auto setting blows cool air to the dash vents when it is hot outside.
The ventilated seats move air from under the seats to... your seat.
Easy HVAC hack for hot days. Tap the HVAC "mode" button just once to switch the damper doors
to send 1/2 the cool air to the dash vents and 1/2 the cool air to the floor vents. Cool feet and seats!

I find the right hand (uk driver’s) seat back very weakly cooled. But my wife in the left seat finds it too much! That always has to be turned down.
