Secondary profile carplay/bluetooth issues
We have a 2025 NX450h+. Really love the car -except for the phone integration.
My spouse and I both use carplay on our own iPhones12 assigned to our own separate profiles - spouse - Driver 1, with me- Driver 2. The profiles are linked to our own keys.
The problem is that when we both get in our separate cars at the same time (mine is a 2023 Outback Wilderness), the NX blocks my CarPlay connection on the Outback. Even if I give my spouse a minute head start, if I catch up with them on the road or at a stoplight, the NX causes the Outback carplay to quit connecting.
Two of the things I have tried so that I can have CarPlay in the Outback are:
1) turn off Carplay on my iPhone for the NX - didn't fix the problem
2) turn off bluetooth on my iPhone, but the Outback needs to have it on to start CarPlay - didn't work
The only thing that worked was to totally remove the Lexus CarPlay option from my iPhone settings (removing Settings>General>CarPlay>Lexus NX from the list of "My Cars"). Of course this prevents me from using CarPlay when I drive the NX.
Does anyone know how the NX is "stealing" the signal and preventing the Outback from communicating for CarPlay? I know my iPhone is secondary when my spouse is driving (and vice versa when I am driving). The settings for Bluetooth devices shows that the secondary driver always has a bluetooth symbol next to it. But I couldn't find a way to stop the secondary phone from being connected by bluetooth. Why does it insist on having this connection? Is this something tied to the key being linked to a driver profile?
So, the only solution I can think of is that we never leave the house in separate cars at the same time.
Thanks
Glen

Hi BillRadio
Thank you for the suggestion. I hadn't thought of that.
Unfortunately, my Outback only allows for wireless CarPlay. It says it supports USB or wireless. But after you select USB - it won't work unless you turn on Bluetooth - and then it automatically connexts to wireless CarPlay and abandons the USB connection. :-(
But it was a great idea to try!
Thanks

Hi BillRadio-
I tried it - and it didn't connect via the USB - only from the wireless connection. From reading the owners multimedia manual - it appears I will need to delete the phone completely from the bluetooth devices and have it as an unregistered phone. I haven't tried this - because I didn't want the hassle of re registering the phone with the Lexus app and Bluetooth devices. Since most of the time it is being driven by a single driver with no problems - it seems it would be more difficult having to use the USB connection all the time with an unregistered phone. Ideally it would automatically switch to the USB connection if it was plugged in - and only use the wireless connection when it wasn't plugged. That just my 2 cents.
Thanks again
