Default Proactive Driving Assist

Looks like my new 2025 350h had the PDA turned off by default. Anyone here using it?

PDA came out with 2024 NX, I don't have it on 2022 NX 350h.

I have on my 2023 Prius and have it turned on. It works good but you need to be aware it is on and get use to it. It will slow you down an automatically brake when you let off the gas. (Toyota/Lexus tests their new technology on some more advanced Toyotas, i.e. Prius)

YMMV,

It automatically brakes for a reason?

PDA does not brake the vehicle, it slows down when senses it's approaching another vehicle at too high a speed. Slows down enough to allow the driver to brake before possible collision. I personally like the feature but find myself relying too much on it to slow the vehicle than braking on my own.

It slows down and brakes in traffic when traffic slows down in front of you. It absolutely does brake. Like I said it takes getting use too. If you are in a very lightly travelled road it will not brake. My braking is encountered in heavy traffic multi=lane roads and it is not always "high speed approach" . Think of one pedal driving in some EV cars like Tesla. Once you get use to what it is going to do, most people like it.

It is similar, yet different than Dynamic Cruise Control when you approach a slower vehicle in front of you.

YMMV,

I have it on my vehicle and it's enabled. Yes, it appears to help brake for my vehicle on the freeway when approaching other vehicles.

Used it for a short drive today. Interesting. The only thing I noticed it doing was slowing down for cars in front of me. Similar to what Dynamic Cruise Control does. It definitely started slowing down sooner than I would. Wondering if the DCC distance setting affects when PDA starts slowing down. And I guess you could have both systems active at the same time. I need to do more experimenting.

It doesn't slow down, it literally brakes. Your brake lights will turn on. It would be super dangerous to be driving in traffic for your car to "slow down" without any indication to other cars around you.

I think it will brake and indicate that on the tail lamps that you are braking.

PDA ( Proactive Driving Assist) brakes and turns on brake lights. Dynamic Cruise Control also brakes and turns on the brake lights.

YMMV,

P.S. - In the hybrids , nice regenerative braking

Can be quite annoying to a following car if brakes are frequently “touched”, flashing the brake lights. Unfortunately no indication to the Lexus driver if the braking is very light.

Also it helps in wearing your brake pads
Brake pads will last longer
It doesnt use your brakes to slow down it uses electric motors for that

Agree, it is annoying to follow a "brake rider"; I just back off and give the a lot for forward space. No indication PDA or DCC causes this, unless you know otherwise.

Regenerative braking is MG1 and MG2 on the hybrids only; 350 turbo uses regular brakes.

YMMV,

It was disabled by default on my 2025 unlike other assist features on the same screen. I have enabled it, didn't notice anything wrong so far.
It slows down and then stops in city traffic if car in front slows down and stops. With or without dynamic cruise control. "Waiting" message is shown and you need to press a wheel button or accelerator to move again.
