Question Low Fuel Warning Customization?

My SO complains that the little orange low fuel warning light on the dashboard of her NX350 isn't prominent enough for her to spot. She's coming from a Q5 which would pop up a huge "You're low on gas, do you want to look for a gas station?" message across the entire center screen - impossible to miss. Can anything like this be accomplished on the NX?

I did see "Low Fuel" message pop up in the dash cluster, but it disappeared fairly quickly and there was no audible warning, so again, kind of easy to miss for her.

Thanks!

There is a similar warning on the Infotainment screen: Low fuel - navigate to a gas station option, but you might need to actually be on the Nav Screen at the time (maybe the warning will pop over whatever is displayed, but I've never been in a situation to test).

But beyond that, there is no customizations I'm aware of. See the pop-up notice on the dash (I actually thought you had to manually clear it, but I'm not sure, some pop ups stay until cleared, others show and hide automatically), or see the light on, get gas. If not, then the final act is pressing the SOS button and tell them you need a fuel delivery.

We were using Apple Carplay navigation at the time, and the warning did not show up on the infotainment screen.

Actually, I think you're right. I did end up manually clearing it. My bad.

This is covered in other threads. The low fuel warning and miles-left don't include the reserve. That is about 2 gallons in my care and maybe 1-1.5 in my SOs.

I know. That wasn't what I was asking though.

When the car is on low fuel, it also pops a giant square message in the front of the instrument cluster and it goes away when you hold one of the steering wheel buttons.

I dont think there is any customization.

The answer to your question is "No" I@Skedadle provide some good info to augment your question. Anyway @Skedadle 's answer is much better than what my Lexus advisor told me, "Why would you ever let you gas get that low without filling up ?"

So the Reserve you can tell your wife piece of mind, it varies slightly by NX but it is between 2.5 and 3.0 gallons; Lexus has a conservative reserve. So, you can give your wife some piece of mind, even if she misses seeing the yellow warning light and the DTE then goes to zero, then blank and then the gas gauge loses all bars she still has the Lexus reserve safety factor. Lexus really tried to make running out of gas idiot proof, no offense meant to your wife.

Reserve amount at rate mpg

250 28 mpg 70--84 miles
350 24 mpg 60-72 miles
350h 39 mpg 97.5 -117 miles
450h+ 36 mpg 90- 108 miles ( if EV depleted)

so there sgould be some piece of mind even though you don't have a big bright " Almost out of Gas" display banner.

Peace and Goodwill and Never Run Out ..of gas

YMMV,
