6 Digit PIN
There's been some talk about this and a few threads as well, which you could search and review for further information. I've found that it will sometimes happen when I'm in weak cell areas. Definitely frustrating but seems to have improved with the last software update.

I started a thread about this soon after I bought my car. It continues to this day and is still very annoying. It usually happens in the same geographical area so it appears to be caused by a low or non existent cell reception. I have found this shortcut to quickly restore my carplay. I press the carplay icon in the upper left corner two times and the pin popup goes away and I am connected once again. It is definitely quicker than entering the 6 digit pin. Another alternative is to press and hold the volume button for a few seconds until the screen goes black and then it will reboot and I am reconnected. Here is the thread:

I thought your issue was resolved when you replaced your phone?
