Default Rodent protection

These days it seems like all car manufacturers are using vegetable based plastic and wire coating. How do you protect your investment. Those little bastards sneak through the smallest openings in my garage. I've tried all kinds of products and peppermint extracts. What works for you?

I've been using an ultrasonic device (from Amazon) that seems to be doing the trick. I was helping our neighbor with some routine maintenance and found a nest in her RAV4 hybrid. She installed one in her garage and has been rodent free since.
