Default Advice for an idiot?

long story short i decided to install the illuminated door sills myself, did the drivers side came out perfect, but the passenger side i tapped the wrong wire by accident. No problem bought another wire tap and tapped the right wire. but somehow the write that i tapped wrong i tried putting some electrical tape over it and the wire came apart. meaning it was split it half/broke the connection so basically what i did was strip some of the insulation kinda make sure the two wires stayed connected and put some electrical tape around it to secure the connection. So far i haven't noticed anything wrong with the car thankfully. But I'm worried about a potential short. what should i do? should i take it to my dealer? but i feel like they would charge me an arm and a leg to do a simple wire repair. any recommendations guys? or should i just leave it. thanks

Buy some wire connectors. One that is rated/sized according to your needs.

+1 There should be some small ones that can fit underneath your door sills.

Cut and splice using these. This if just like what we use for aircraft wire repairs.
