Default Centering Rings

Hello - had America’s Tire switch out my winter tires a few days ago. I noticed that the box had the centering rings. Do our cars require centering rings for OEM rims? (18”). Thanks in advance.

I’ve never seen hubrings come OEM on anything. Would they be for your winter wheels?

Most likely if they were aftermarket rims.

OEM wheels are hub centric and do not require any hub rings. They are typically only used for aftermarket wheels like mentioned.

Thanks for the responses and easing my mind. The rings must be from my winters.

Yeah I'm just using them for my aftermarket winter wheels. I was told I didn't need to keep them on for my OEM wheels.

Even if you have universal large centerbore winter aftermarket wheels, with any type of tapered, acorn, or ball seat lug bolts or nuts, they automatically become lug centric. Lots of people don’t understand how this works, so tire shops will use them if you demand, to make you happy (and go away).

Those lugnuts are not interchangeable and the more you force the lug hole to center the wheel the more you can possibly stretch out the lug holes to the point they are out of round and the wheels are not usable Especially if you don’t use a torque wrench.
